This year

It could be considered that until now it had a good year, with highs and lows (very low), but I think for now I could say that it is good.

 I think one of the best things that has happened to me is having entered to study what I wanted, the first time I did the PSU I was lack of some points to reach the last score, but this year I took it seriously and it went very well and luckily I had no difficulties at the time of doing it. Despite the fact that this year the coronavirus has passed and I am at home all day without leaving and therefore I have not been able to meet my colleagues in person, Despite these, I have met some of them virtually and I made friends despite the difficulties.

On the other hand, quite bad things have happened, such as the the death of a member of my family

 for the virus and certain complications in some courses.

I would say that one of my achievements would be that until now I have been passing all the courses quite well, except for one (in addition to having improved in some games as I mentioned before).

Taking advantage of this is the end, I just want to thank the teacher for being quite close, unlike others and that I liked this modality (although I had trouble remembering to blog).

War Thunther

Again, I am going to talk about a game, but this time more attached to reality. During this exams period I have dedicated some of my free time in a game called "War thunther", it is a free to play, simulator and FPS.

It is a somewhat complex game to explain, since it is something special, basically one plays with vehicles from the Second World War and the Korean War, from different countries, such as the most ovious like USA, URRS, UK, Germany and others not as obvious like Italy and Sweden.

The type of vehicles that I can choose is quite varied and are divided into different sections, the first (which is also usually the most played) are land vehicles, within this section are tanks, tank destroyers, armored vehicles and anti-aircraft vehicles. The second section is aviation, which are differentiated between fighters, heavy fighters, light bombers, and heavy bombers. The third section is the helicopters, which I have not been able to play yet, but they are divided into utility helicopters and combat helicopters. Finally, there is the marina, it is one of the new ones together with the helicopters, these include torpedo boats, submarine cheaser, destroyers, light cruisers and heavy cruisers. Also, within each category there are other vehicles, but they are not so common. The reason why I say all this is to explain one of the reasons why I like this game and it is realism.

In addition to these sections there are six ranks (from I to VI) and ten levels (from 1 to 10). to explain it in a simple way each vehicle has a level and a rank and depending on each one I am paired with a team.

Although I started playing for tanks, now I am mainly playing with airplanes, since in the first one, despite the fact that I like it, I am not very good, while in the second I like it and I am quite good. In the latter I have been first several times and I have been able to advance very fast.

Although there are many more things to mention such as personalization, medals and achievements, I think I will leave it here, the last image is of one of my favorite aircraft at the moment, the British Supermarine Spitfire MK IIa, which I personalized with victory marks and nose art.

Pharmaceutical chemistry

Taking into account all the difficulties we have had during this year due to the coronavirus, having to choose the subject that most enjoy me is somewhat complex, but I think I am going to lean towards choosing something a little broader and something related, which is what seen in "the pharmaceutical chemist and his action"

I think it is not wrong to put together some of the things seen during this course, since they are very related. These would be "virtual visits", "professional orientation" and "pharmaceutical terminology.

In pharmaceutical terminology, we learned a lot about the technical language of the degree, in addition to learning to differentiate terms that are synonymous in normal language, but that here mean different things. Both in virtual visits and in professional orientation we learned what things we can work on and what it would be like to do in those places, the first being more practical and the second more theoretical.

Precisely for the matter seen I liked the course, since you can understand that I was studying and find even more reasons why I chose this career.

My laptop

Although I'm not sure what to choose between my laptop or my cell phone, I think I'm going to choose my laptop.

I bought it this year 2020 since my previous pc was spoiled and I needed one to be able to study.

Although I bought it to study and be able to do assignments, I also use it to play games, watch videos, series and movies.

The time I use it depends on the day, but generally 4-5 (daily) hours for classes, 6-7 hours a week to do assignments and usually I take about 2 hours a day to play.

I like it because of the comfort it gives to study and do work, plus it is much better for moving games than my previous PC.

It would be very difficult for me not to have it, since due to the pandemic it has become a practically indispensable object, especially for study (and play games).

Again I have had difficulties choosing what to write, after some time thinking I think I am going to go for the simple and also I saw that I am not the only one who did something like this.

I'm going to talk about a youtube channel that I really like and uploads quite a variety of information, "kurzgesagt - in a nutshell" (https://www.youtube.com/user/Kurzgesagt/featured). I found this channel a long time ago and it talks about history, physics, biology, philosophical problems. Although it does not talk so much about chemistry, but about things related to it.

The channel's videos have a vastly interesting format, since they make 2D animations, so that everything looks quite cartoonish, which from my point of view makes some things much easier to understand. They constantly use this format to make the learning process much more enjoyable. But despite this without leaving a relatively reliable place to get information (although generally in a superficial way) and that unlike many others recognize their mistakes, even deleting and redoing a video if it does not have too reliable sources.

One of the things I like the most about this channel (in addition to its own characteristics), is that its videos are entertaining and easy to watch, without being too long or monotonous as it happens with some scientific divulgation channels.

I usually watch it quite often, since sometimes I replay videos to pass the time or simply see the new videos that upload.

The Outers Worlds

As the subject is free, I am going to dedicate the publication to one of the things I have devoted the most time this week and how it has impacted the gamer world. I have been playing "The Outers Worlds" for several hours this week, it is a game that I really liked and that has some relevance in the current world of video games.

Many have called this game a "true Fallout" or simply a "Space Fallout", but why has this happened?

If any of you are minimally involved in the world of video games you have probably played or heard of the "Fallout" saga and how it has been involved in the game after game controversy, especially after the infamous "Fallout 76".

In 2018 "Fallout 76" was made well known in the video game world, but not for good things. This game was developed and distributed by Bethesda, a well-known developer and much loved by his public (until now).The main reason why the game became known was because of how poorly developed it was, to the point of being unplayable and for breaking with all the above seen in its saga.

This causes an important part of their audience become very unhappy and they began to look for a new Fallout experience, which would come from the hand of  Obsidian.

In fact the campaign with which Obsidian published The Outers Worlds, would be with phrases like "from the original creators of Fallout", obviously looking for this unhappy public. Obsidian rescued a lot of the essence of Fallout and took it to space, with a lot of satire and an interesting story.

Although the game is not perfect and has flaws, these can be overlooked especially considering its current competition.

A Photograph (?) that I like

I don't really like taking photos and photographs in general. Because of this i am going to "twists" the "rules" of this bloggs a little and instead of talk about a photo, I am going to talk about a frame of a movie that i really like.

"Inglorius Bastreds" it's a movie directed by Quentin Tarantino relased in 2009, that happens in an alternative world during de second world war. The directon of photograph in this movie is really good and this image is a good example. The photograph in this movie was directed for Robert Richardson, I think what it's okay to give him the autorship of this image.

This image has a very marked baroque style, whit a strong contrast between two of the movie protagonist (Spoiler alert). For one side we can see in the distance a Shosanna Dreyfus, a jewish teenager escaping to freedom, just after all her family died and she is the only survivor, she is runing in a well lit french plain. For the other side we can see a Hans Landa Colonel of  the SS, who just murdered the shosanna's family and now leave the house to try to kill her, both the house and the colonel are in the dark, highlighting the atrocity that just happened and from wich Shosanna is escaping.

I like this image because of this unconvencional frame, full of contrast and that can be given different interpretation of the lighting and colors.

My favorite movie.

I have four movies in my top of best movies, the four are excelent movies for me, but if I had to chooso one definitly be "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes back".

"Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" it's an american movie from 1980, it's the second movie in the saga of "Star Wars" in chronologic order, but is the five chapter in this saga of movies. Like the rest of movies of this saga is a Space Opera.

This movie had a significant impact on popular culture, is one of the rares examples where the secuel is better than the original and it is also one of the rares examples where the bad guys win.

The movie has important situations, places and characters whitout this it would be very difficult recognize the "Star Wars" saga, like the imperial march, the master Yoda, the Vader revelations, the battle of Hoth, the floating could city, Lando Calrissian and much more.

the type of movies that I like is varied, so I wouldn't know how to choose which genre in specific, but if there is one that I don't like at all, the musicals.

The most recent movie that I have seen, it's in  fact "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes back" and I definitely recommend this movie.

Why chemistry and pharmacy?

Since my chilhood i realy like science, my first book was one of the human body when i have 6 years (book that i still have). When in kinder asks about what do we want to be? i respond that i wanted to be doctor. But when i start to doing science courses in the U. de Chile, i realy like chemestry and i decided that i didn´t whant to study medicine, but i still wasn´t sure what study. In the high school i decided that i wanted to study Chemistry and Pharmacy, because mixes chemestry and heath. When i was in 3° medio, i did a course of biotecnology and this like me a lot, because work whit genes it was something new and interesting for me and the teachers were really good.

When i had to choise what study, i was between Chemistry and pharmacy and Biotecnology, but i decided Chemistry and Pharmacy, whit the plan of studing biotecnology later, beacause the first its more ample and the second in Chile is generally an engineering. Whith yhat in mind, i´m really interested in the bacteriophages and their application in the pharmacology.

My experience in the university its was good at the moment, thanks to the groups works i met good classmates.

I´m not sure what i want to job in the future, but at the moment in the pharma industry.

My name is Baltazar, i have 19 years old. i´m studing Chemistry and pharmacy. I from Estación central.
During my chilhood I realy like science and i started to doing courses in the U. Chile when i have 12-13 years old, it´s then when i realized i like chemestry.

I relay like strategy games how the "Total War" saga or the games of "Paradox", the first one is about real time strategy in battles and turns strategy in the map, the second one is about real time strategy and control one country, usually changing the history.

I like cook, and during this quarantine i have learned a lot of new recipes.
